For the past few weeks I keep being reminded it is political season.
The upcoming presidential election will be the first opportunity to vote for a couple of my kids. Taking my youngest to vote on Super Tuesday reminded me of the first time I had the chance to vote. Ronald Reagan was elected and went on to serve two terms. He continues to be one of the most popular presidents of my lifetime.
Reagan not only had a political mind, he also thought like a leader. One of my favorite things he ever said was, “The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.”
I hope you do great things in the coming days. But even more, I hope you can get the people around you to do great things.
Do not let your own capacity be the lid on what can be accomplished. As you start a new week, why not gather your team around you and commit to something great.
The world needs great leaders more than ever. I’m afraid if our only hope is in those who are running for president we might be in trouble. The world needs all of us to be great. If you really want to do something great, get those around you to be their best.
