Harry Truman once said, “I have found the best way to give advise to your children is to find out what they want and then advise them to do it.”
The same can be said for team members as it can for kids. If you want to be a great leader, then focus on fostering an environment of discovery. It starts by giving great advice.
Encourage and even challenge your team members to identify what they are passionate about and what they enjoy doing, and then unleash them to go and do it.
The best teams are those where everyone is aligned with his or her strengths. Rarely does it happen, though, without a wise leader who understands the power of passion.
