Last night I had a great conversation with a leader who shared with me an important principle for those seeking permission.

He said, don’t let someone tell you “no” who doesn’t have the power to tell you “yes.” It was so powerful I made him say it twice.

Is there an area where you need approval or resources and you keep hearing, “No?” If so, you might be asking the wrong person.

Think strategically before you ask for things that matter, and make sure you do your asking with those who have the power to say yes.
