I recently read these words from blogger, James Clear …

“Really successful people feel the same boredom and the same lack of motivation that everyone else feels. They don’t have some magic pill that makes them feel ready and inspired every day. But the difference is that the people who stick with their goals don’t let their emotions determine their actions. Top performers still find a way to show up, to work through the boredom, and to embrace the daily practice that is required to achieve their goals.”

When I ate at the Loveless Cafe in Nashville, I saw a place that is very much like most other places … only different. Excellence was visible in everything they do. From the green beans and gravy, to the gift shop goodies, the Loveless has chosen to embrace, not only simplicity and routine, but also consistency in the face of  all the things Clear describes. Don’t you think they have faced monotony? … Felt boredom? … Desired to search for the latest and greatest ‘magic pill?’

If you expect to achieve mastery, a commitment to consistency will position you to reach your goal. As you begin a new week I challenge you to make consistency, not circumstances, your focus. It’s a choice all masters make.

Leadership Begins at Home,

What is the best example of consistency you have seen during the past month?
