Yesterday ended up being a great day. Productive meetings, a conquered to do list, quality time with one of my daughters, and an evening run all brought me satisfaction.
It almost didn’t happen.
I have to admit when the alarm went off I buried my head in the pillow. I didn’t want to get up after a great holiday off on Monday. In fact, I never want to get up when the alarm rings. Never!
I talked myself into opening one eye. And then another. Next thing you know I had summoned the courage to stand. Then a step.
16 hours later . . . fulfillment.
Every day it starts the same. The selfish side of me wanting to shirk responsibility and hide under the covers. The leader in me having to make the right decision. And when it is all said and done and it is time for bed again at night, I am usually trying to squeeze a couple of more moments out of a day that I once dreaded so much.
A great journey always begins with a single step.
Is there a place in your life where you are refusing to ‘get out of bed?’ Something you have been putting off until later? A place where you are lacking motivation?
If so, take a step.
You will find that once you get going, it won’t be as hard as you had anticipated, and there will be no regrets.
Make a decision, open an eye, stand up, and take a step. There is something great awaiting you at the end of the day. Satisfaction.
Is there an area of your life where you struggle with motivation?
