One of the great leaders in history was an Old Testament king named Saul. If it were not for some character issues he never conquered, he might have been an all time great.
Yesterday I was reading about Saul in 1 Samuel 14 and came across a great leadership reminder. It is found in verse 52. The verse shows that, centuries ago, Israel’s first king was on the lookout for talent.
See for yourself . . . “All the days of Saul there was bitter war with the Philistines, and whenever Saul saw a mighty or brave man, he took him into his service.”Another version reads, “. . . when Saul saw any mighty man or any valiant man, he attached him to his staff.”
Saul knew the key to winning the war as a leader was to surround himself with great talent . . . to attach great people to his staff.
As a leader one of your responsibilities is to be on the lookout for great people; people who are even better than you.
I have no idea what or who represents the Philistines (the enemy or resistance) in your environment. However, I do know you will never be able to overcome and accomplish your vision alone.
Find yourself some men and women who are mighty in skill, brave at heart, and committed to integrity and you will be on your way to winning your war.
Leadership Begins at Home,
