Book It

Few leaders have been quoted throughout history as much as Abraham Lincoln. One of my favorite statements attributed to Honest Abe gives evidence to why he has so often been referenced.
“My Best Friend is a person who will give me a book I have not read.”
All my life, I have been reminded, “leaders are readers.” I believe it.
Are you a committed reader? If not, you probably won’t ever reach your full potential as a leader.
Spend some time today with your face in a good book. It will make you easier to follow.
Randy

Enjoy for different reasons:
The Silverado Story – the development of an abnormal memory care center
Love Does, Bob Goff – love is an action – go out and do things for people
Wrecked, Jeff Goins – a call to live a better life
Platform, Michael Hyatt – tips to building a brand via platforms

I don’t read often, if i do it’s because i meet the person that wrote the book. In two such cases I meet Keni Thomas. U.S. Army Rangers Veteran of “Black Hawk down” Mission. It was entitled GET IT ON..what it means to lead the way, Great book by the way. Keni is a Christian and song writer and plays as well. He was at The Motorcycle event this last May. Rally to Ridge Crest..If you would like to read the book let me know I will lend you my copy.
Another such case I was again on my Harley helping with the wounded warrior project. We stop for lunch.. To make a long story short the guy across the table from me went to the same High School in north Tampa Fl. What a small world… any way He wrote a book on his life and how in Vietnam a fellow bold Christian solider later influenced is own walk with Christ. The Book Fighting Fighting By Richard L Dixon..Some of the book is kind of what i would call R rated but He told it like is was..He told me before hand and I said we all have done things we wish we hadn’t when we didn’t walk with Christ. I enjoyed the parts of the book of him living and going to the same places when i was in high school.
He was a senior when i was in the 9th grade.. And his girl friend was best friends with my school buddies sister…small world. Also that he is still married since 1968 and on the back of the Book i love this Quote. Richard loves God,country and family. He lives in Newnan by the way.

I just finished The Art of Self-Deception this week and really got a lot out of it .I would definitely recommend it. Love Does has been on my list for a while as I am a Goff fan; I’m glad to see it getting good reviews. Too many books, too little time.

Leadership and the Art of Self-Deception is great Susan. I have read it twice. Takes longer to sink in for some of us! Thanks for commenting.

If it’s any consolation, I think you’re an out of the box type of person. 🙂
