It’s time for my cup of coffee. I might even have two today?
For the next several days we will look at leadership through the filter of coffee.
Today . . . Routine.
Every day people all over the world pour a cup of coffee to start their day. It represents a routine which is defined as an “unvarying and constantly repeated formula.”
Leaders can learn a lot from coffee drinkers. Namely, find a routine and stick with it. A constantly repeated formula can lead to leadership success.
I am not saying that routine should be your only focus. There are many times you should live outside the box – more on that in a few days. However, you will never have success unless you are willing to establish some disciplined routines for learning and leading.
Find a routine that helps you lead yourself first and you will be ready to lead others.
The next time you pour yourself a cup of coffee, may it remind you to be relentless in your self-leadership routines.

Randy
What are some of your routines that make you a better leader?
repost from 8.14.10
Love the post Randy. One of my routines is to block time on Sunday evening to review my next 30-45 days. I do that every Sunday night. I used to just review my next week, but I have found that looking at the bigger picture helps me to better prioritize my time.
Great comment Dwain & a good routine to have built into your leadership. Thanks!
Great word–thanks for the tip.
Randy I have found that I have to make time for things to become routine. I never had time to exercise I couldn’t find time to be with my kids. I could come up with every excuse in the book to keep things from becoming routine. The weird thing is when I got into the routine of investing time with God, and my kids, working out, and reading. The more time I had to do other things. I think most of that had to do with organizing and reaping the rewards of investing time with God.
Pressing on with excellence!
Keith
Great comment Keith. Thanks!
I really like coffee and personal growth. I don’t drink coffee every day but I do grow and develop myself in some way everyday. Great post.
Thanks Dan!
Yep:)
