A couple of nights ago I caught a few minutes of The Biggest Loser. One of the trainers spoke a powerful reminder to a contestant who was disappointed with his results.
“Fall in love with the work. Don’t fall in love with the results.”
How many times do I get sucked in to the “results trap?” Let’s just say, “Too often.”
The crazy thing is, when I approach my work with zeal and zest, my results are usually favorable.
If you want to be a more productive leader, I suggest you fall in love with your work, not your results.
i2i,
Randy
Do you think most leaders are too focused on results? If so, what is the consequence?
we are trained to measure success by the results, but I agree that if we do not love what we do, then no level of results will ever satisfy us…
So true, Coach. Thanks for your comments this week & for being such a loyal reader. Have a great weekend!
It is way too easy to measure up against the results. We lose site of the big picture. It isn’t always about the bottom line. I hope to be a great leader someday, way too often I fall way too short… (OK & you have to have someone to lead to be a leader…)
Thanks Randy for sharing,
Ja
Thanks Jason. Have a great day!
I love this! So many times people are so focused on the next step that they lose focus on the present.
Carpe Diem!
So true, Susan. Thanks for the comment!
