Late in Peter Drucker’s life, he was asked which of his 30+ books was his favorite. In classic form he replied, “My next one.” I’m certainly no Peter Drucker, but I share his sentiment! I’m more excited about this, my next book, than any of the others. Why? I think it’s because of the topic – it is a book about leadership character. Here’s a quick overview of the storyline…

This is the fourth book in a series following the life, learning and influence of Debbie Bruster. Now, later in her life she finds herself mentoring Blake Brown, the son of her former mentor. Blake is a 20-something, aspiring leader with tremendous potential. His struggle has been turning his potential into performance.
Like many emerging leaders, Blake’s career is stuck. He doesn’t know what to do, so he reaches out to Debbie. Rather than answer his questions directly, Debbie introduces him to other leaders who knew his father well. Each of them shares with Blake their individual and unique perspective on what really makes a leader successful.
As Blake puts the pieces together, he discovers his problem has not been one of skills but character. Blake learns that leadership is more about the heart of the leader than the hands. It’s an insight that changes Blake’s direction in life and leadership. With the help of his new friends and mentors, he’s able to build a plan to transform his heart.

With that overview, here’s where you come in – we are scheduled to begin production immediately for a Fall 2013 release. The first step, believe it or not, is to finalize the title. The publisher wants to start pre-selling the book to distributors in a few weeks!
