For the past couple of weeks, I have taken a break from blogging. During that time our family had the opportunity to get away for a few days at the beach. We had a blast!
One of the reasons it was so good was I decided to turn off my phone for the week. I called my mom and told her if there was an emergency to call my wife’s phone, and then I powered down. No texting, no voice mails, no checking email.
Getaway’s are taylor made for powering down. They allow us to rest, relax, and recharge. For me, all three of those things happened as I enjoyed my morning runs, big breakfasts, and a lot of time with my family.
There were no leadership responsibilities, no meetings, and no deadlines to keep. Just a couple of novels and some afternoon naps under a beach umbrella.
When was the last time you got away for a few days to recharge? When was the last time you “powered down?” The world can go on without you for a few days. But you might not be able to sustain your pace if you neglect to get away.
So set a time, pick a place and power down for a few days. Those you lead will survive while you are gone. They might even thrive.
And chances are you will too.

Randy
Where and when did you go for your last get away?
