While visiting the old city of Lijiang, China, I ran into a man and his horse.  The man had a business providing rides to children.  Unfortunately, the man was asleep on the job.

While my kids didn’t have a chance to ride the horse, they did take away a good laugh.  If you look back at the picture, you will notice the horse is also asleep.

For leaders, the horse serves as a good reminder.  Namely, your team members are much more likely to do what you do than they are to do what you say.

If you want to be a great leader, the most important thing you can do is to model the right behavior.

Is there a place where you are asleep on the job?  If so, be sure your team members are beginning to nod off too.
