For the past couple of weeks I have been hanging out with students. Any time kids are present during the summer there had better be a big pool, lake, or an ocean. I have seen all three and I have learned something important.
Namely, when the water is over your head, it doesn’t matter how deep it is.
Most of us like shallow, safe, and easy. We are more comfortable in the kiddie pool.
What if you made a decision to do some swimming in the deep end for a change?
I say if you are going to go for it, go big. Stop dreaming about shallow, safe, and easy. Say goodbye to the baby pool and try something really hard for a change.
For some of you it has been too long since you challenged yourself, or your team. Stuff gets accomplished when goals are big and when they are made public.
It’s time to go deep or go home.
Remember, when the water is over your head, it doesn’t matter how deep it is.

What is one big thing you need to attempt during the next 6 months?
Coach, God has been speaking along a theme in my life the last few days. Your post today is one more confirmation.
Metaphorically, I am a solid swimmer and I have often swam in the deep end–and loved it!! But lately I have been fearing the deep…only wanting to go just above my head where my tiptoes can launch me me off the bottom to gasp for air…and really wanting to stay in the shallow end where I can feel in control. But it’s time to trust God and head back to the high dive. Thanks for the reminder!
Thanks Hatchet girl. As tall as you are, I trust God is taking you to some very deep waters which is exciting. I am so proud of you! Coach
