This morning at 5:00 AM I baked an apple pie. I did the same thing a year ago on December 6th.
Every year for as long as I can remember we have had apple pie for breakfast on this date. It is the only day of the year when this is true.
The ritual began several years ago when my wife asked my daughter Rebekah what kind of cake she wanted for her birthday. “I want apple pie for breakfast.” Came the reply.
One of the reasons I love Christmas so much is because of its traditions. Those moments that mark the season and remind me that my life is linked to years of family and legacy. My grandfather was also born on this day. He would have loved Rebekah.
Thank God for a little girl who knows what she wants. Actually, not so little anymore. Now a young woman.
The only thing sweeter than the pie today is “Miss Sweet 16” herself.
Happy birthday my love. You are the apple pie of my eye.

Randy
What is your favorite December tradition?
When a father honors his daughter the angles sigh with joy.
She’s a beauty David!
Happy Birthday to your sweet 16… What treasured memories you have…
It is hard to believe my oldest will be 16 in April… They grow up so fast…
As leaders shouldn’t we groom those we lead to become the best leaders they can be? Isn’t that what we do with our kids, teach them to be the best that they can be…
Merry Christmas,
Jason
