Yesterday I received a note from someone with a quote from Emerson. His words, “The wise man in the storm prays to God, not for safety from danger, but for deliverance from fear.”
Emerson’s admonishment caused me to ask myself, “Am I even attempting anything that causes me to be afraid?”
Leaders are no different from followers. They enjoy safe and sure. However, leaders also recognize that nothing is accomplished on the shores of safety. Lands are discovered and territories claimed only by setting sail and going through the storm.
Today is a good day to push yourself to do something that makes you uncomfortable. You have what it takes. Release your fear, and put up the sails for a change.
Leadership Begins at Home,
Randy
When was the last time you attempted something that made you afraid?
Comments?
It is fearful to hear you are going to lose your job. What is almost just as scary is starting a new job. Going back into IT full-time also brought about some fears. The best I can do is to pray that God will see me through and help me overcome my fears. It also helps to know He is always with us no matter what.
Thanks Randy,
Ja
Great comment Jason. Thanks!
Great Emerson quote! My wife and I are about to exchange a two income household for a one income household AND a baby….I admit that this trickles me from comfort to fear at times!
That is awesome! Be courageous.
I have used the analogy of those who are willing to get into the boat at the water’s edge, but only those who are willing to overcome their fears will cast off the rope that keeps them in the safety of the harbor and sail into the deep waters. Think how small our world would be today if men were captive to their fears….
Great point, Coach!
Great quote! Next time I fly on a plane I will ask for deliverance from fear not just for my safety..
Awesome Cindy!
